Help Stock the Pantry

Our goal is to support Skyview Middle School & North Creek High School families with food security challenges.

Did you know?

  • Food insufficiency has almost doubled after implementation of strategies to slow the spread of COVID-19. (King County Public Health, August 2020 report)
  • 1 in 5 Washington residents could face hunger this year. (Seattle Times, 9/10/2020)

This pantry relies primarily on the generosity of our school communities to help us provide healthy meals to our Skyview & North Creek families in need.

Donate Food or Money

Requests are still up from last year. We need to keep the pantry stocked to support food bag deliveries 2 times a month!

There are 4 ways you can help:

  1. Schedule a porch pick up. Food Pantry volunteers will pick up food from your porch. Email Melissa to schedule a pickup.
  2. List updated August 1st! Shop on Amazon and the food will be delivered to the pantry for you, you don’t have to leave your home. North Creek/Skyview Food Pantry Wishlist
  3. Drop off donations in the Skyview Middle School office. There is a collection box there.
  4. Make a monetary donation (they can be company matched too). Donations made this way will be used ONLY for the combined food pantry since the fund is a restricted line item in the Skyview MS PTSA budget.

Volunteer Opportunities:

NCHS/Skyview PTSA Food Pantry Driver Job Description

The volunteers delivering grocery bags for the Food Pantry need to be aware that the confidentiality of families that we are helping and supporting needs to be honored in the highest regard.  The concept of confidentiality is covered in the District Orientation online reading material, but we wanted to remind each volunteer that we need to keep the information about families in need to ourselves.  Since this is a confidential program, we cannot allow students to deliver to families, and we cannot have drivers bring their students to help.

  • In need of drivers who can commit to approximately 2 Wednesdays per month
  • Must have your own vehicle for transporting bags of groceries
  • Delivery can range from 3-6 drop offs depending on location of families (we try to keep drop offs together geographically if possible)
  • Delivery locations may include apartment complexes
  • Pick up bags on scheduled Wednesday morning roughly between 10-11 am at Skyview Middle School
  • Deliver bags to families Wednesday afternoons between 3-6 pm

We are also in need of drivers who can be on an “on call” list for larger delivery dates (near Thanksgiving and in December) or for standard delivery days where we are short drivers (due to sickness, personal conflicts, etc.).

Please contact Karen Cohen for more information at karenjeffc@yahoo.com for Wednesday delivery role or “on-call” role.

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who helped get our food pantry stocked for last September!
Let's see if we can do it again this year.
